Parents

Parents who are enthusiastically involved in their child’s education help to establish an early love of learning and a positive attitude toward school. ICP is a wonderful opportunity for parents and preschoolers to bond and learn together!

Parents have many opportunities to learn, grow, and use their talents at ICP. Parent Education is a personally enriching experience, and a major component of the program. Parent education speakers are brought to our school once a month, and in addition we cover a monthly parenting topic with our own educators during class time. Parents receive college credits through Shoreline Community College for attending the ICP program and participating in Parent Education. Some of our recent parent education topics have been: “Remote Control Childhood: Media Influence on Our Kids”, “Education: Trucks vs. Dolls”, “Financing College”, “Star Parenting”, and “Playing Doctor.”

Parents are encouraged to develop a personal, comfortable, meaningful philosophy regarding family relationships in order to enjoy parenthood and meet the needs of their children. Parents work in the classroom one day a week with their child. Every parent has a committee job that helps keep our school running. Committee jobs are a great opportunity to use your talents, or try something new!

My daughter has blossomed and learned so much in her 3 years at ICP; and I have been empowered to build on my own parenting skills. As she gets ready to go to Kindergarten next year, I am proud that her preschool years were not something that ‘happened’ to her, but something we created together.”
